This One Thing Can Help You - Even If You're Not a Writer
A book can kick start your speaking career, get you on expert panels, earn you corporate consulting gigs. A book makes you the expert. It can open the door for all sorts of opportunities where you AMPLIFY your voice. A book can literally BOOST you to earning more money.
A book with your name on it brings you authority, it makes you the expert in your field.
Being a writer though, isn't in your wheelhouse. You're not a writer. You don't want to write. You want to work with your clients, you want to speak to crowds. You want to get into the corporate consulting and dig in.
There's one thing you need that no matter what level writer you are (even if you don't want to write) will help you get your book started and completed. Plus, extra bonus it will get your book read.
What is it?
It's simple.
FOCUS ON CLARITY not COMPLEXITY.
I work with my clients (non-writers) helping them to build a foundation before they write. My philosophy is to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Focusing on CLARITY is just that, keeping your writing process simple.
What exactly do I mean by focusing on clarity?
It means concentrate on expressing your ideas instead of trying to sound like a professional author. BE YOU. It means narrowing down and fine tuning your message in a CLEAR way.
One of my favorite tips is to start with a journal.
Write as if you’re having a conversation with someone from your IDEAL AUDIENCE. Write in a straightforward, authentic way. You don’t need jargon here. How can you help? What is it that you offer that is so special that ONLY you can do this. Remember, the key here is to be clear and authentic.
The other tip is journal AS someone who is your IDEAL AUDIENCE member. What would they be asking you? What problems do they need help with? Where are they in their journey? Discover their pain points. Get inside their head and figure out what they need. It's reverse engineering.
These two exercises WILL 100% help you build CLARITY on your message. And, they take 10-15 minutes a day for a few weeks.
Clarity builds trust. A well-organized book with YOUR AUTHENTIC voice is more valuable than choosing the perfect words. Each chapter can become a foundation for speaking points, giving you clear talking points for presentations and interviews!
Side benefit on writing a book - you gain CLARITY on your message. You also get more material to share when speaking, doing podcasts or for those corporate gigs. It's a win-win as you focus on your message you get more information - you get more clarity.
