How Do You Know Which Coach is WRITE For You?
For me, writing is as natural as breathing. Each project starts with ideas which I then transform through creativity and purpose.
I’ve always been a writer, but I know it doesn’t come as naturally to everyone. Not everyone who writes a book wants to be an author - some people simply want to write a book for their business (coaches, mindset, self-help, improvement, financial specialist, memoir etc.) They have the will but not the knowledge or the time, it’s not their passion, but a need.
A book coach understands that professional coaches and consultants with packed schedules may find it overwhelming to find the time to map out, start or write their book. Even my fiction writers and memoirists can get lost in the process and feel the tick-tok of the clock. For everyone, there is a learning process, and not everyone has the time.
Instead of falling back to using AI generated content (because it seems easy) this is why you find a coach. We coaches come in all price levels and we each work with different types of books. What you should look for is someone who asks you questions first and listens to your answers. They should specialize in providing structure, accountability, and expert guidance. They should give you ideas and answers to questions you didn’t know you needed to ask.
An experienced book coach has the ability to help you write to elevate your authority, increase your income, and expand your reach - even if you are a first-time writer. My goal when working with my clients is to ensure they are writing the right book for themselves and that they understand their reader. When you get this part down, the authority and reach fall right into place.
A book coach knows how to not only give you the guidance you need and the accountability, but they should help you to understand the publishing process. They should discuss with you the plan for your book. Is it to secure speaking appointments, corporate consulting opportunities, so you can be high-profile guest on a podcast? Is it an extra asset to your business?
Book coaches all have a different path to help you get your book done. My methods are tried and true on all levels of writers. My goal and the goal of any book, ensuring you write the RIGHT book, not just a book.
What to look for when hiring a coach:
1) Set up a one-on-one time with them. I offer a free 30-Minute Get Your Book Done Session, which often turns into an hour. You should be able to ask questions about your project and get clear answers.
2) Does your book coach (during your interview process) ask you questions about things you’d never thought about. You don’t know what to ask when you don’t know what you don’t know…right?
3) Have they worked on your type of book before?
4) What is your price point?
5) How much time will you spend with your coach?
6) Can your coach give you references?
7) Can they help you when you’re done writing? Editors, publishing etc.
Hopefully this information has helped. Your book isn’t just a project—it’s an investment in your voice, brand, and future opportunities.
